Can anyone tell me how to keep my CGM on during extreme sweat inducing activity?

Hey all. I was told about this site by a diabetic friend of mine and was wondering if any of you could give me some advice on how to keep my continuous glucose monitor attached to me when I am running around out side in the hot weather and getting sweaty. I currently have the medtronic pump which has a continuous glucose monitor as well. My infusion set has never given me an issue but my CGM freaking falls off... it has even fallen out and I have lost it. I use the skin tac wipe to make it extra sticky then I put on 2 pieces of tagraderm and it still falls off. This is ridiculous in my opinion cause I dont plan to stop being active and if I have to I will return this if I cant keep the CGM on my body when I get really sweaty. Anywho... does anyone know of something that will make things stay attached to you while sweating?

I have similar problems.  The lack of adhesion (like you)  is aggrevated by where I have the sensor placed...  I have given up on Tegaderm, b/c it doesn't consistently stay put and I had skin issues with it.  Same as the S&N  product Jeff mentioned,

I have just ordered some tincture of benzoin.  A friend used to apply it to his fingers prior to taping his hands for rock climbing with ugly hand jams on granite and the tape stayed put.  We'll see if it can hold waterproof tape on as well as cloth tape, but I'd consider changing tape if I could get adhesion.  I have been using Hytape (the pink waterproof tape) which seems to stick well, except when there is any soap residue or it's in the super-sweaty areas...(like abdomen for me).

Good luck and I'll let you know how the new system works or doesn't.

Hello Daisy.  Although not currently using a CGM, I've had a lot of luck with the Smith&Nephew product IV3000 1-Hand.  The 2 3/8" x 2 3/4" is a good size for covering the white transmitter that talks to my Medtronic  722.  I have a bunch of spares so I'd be happy to send you 10 to try and you can decide.  If you already tried it w/out luck, disregard, but if you'd like me to send you some, email address to mazer@bresnan.net.
